Karen is a native Angeleno who left the US almost 30 years ago for Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She is a poet, an essayist and a writer of short and long-form fiction. Her short fiction has been published by Jabberwock Review and Cha: An Asian Literary Journal. You can find links to these and other works at her website listed below. Karen’s debut novel, The Dancing Girl and the Turtle, was published in April this year by Linen Press. That novel is about rape and shame, self-harm and war in 1930’s Shanghai.
